Marvelous, Marvelous book, Masha’Allah. This book covers so many relevant and important aspects on how to have a successful marriage, bi’ithnillah. Sister Sadaf mentions an extremely important point in her book: She says that many singles enter marriage with pre-formed beliefs and unrealistic expectations about marriage. These unrealistic or idealistic beliefs formulated from the media can lead to a letdown in a true marriage. So, so true!
She also reminds us that Shaitan is our enemy and can lead us to focus on what others have instead of the blessings that we have been given by Allah, Subhana Wa ta’ala. “Look towards those who rank below you,” she reminds us.
She even gives a reassuring confidence talk about how one’s features, size, height or other physical characteristics can be made beautiful for her partner no matter how societal norms may perceive them. She discusses this in regard to the term Rida bil qada’ (a person’s pleasure at what Allah has decreed),
In a nutshell she gives a wake-up call to Muslim women letting them know that the most important career they can have is being a successful wife and parent.
